The Kashmir University is one of the premier universities in India. The seeds of first university in Kashmir ware planted immediately after India gained its independence from British. Locals take private transportation or state government managed buses for daily commute to theuniversity. The private matadors (mini bus) operate from different part of city and busses can be boarded from central station in Lal chowk (down town). :
By Air: The nearest airport is situated in Srinagar the main city in Kashmir. The Srinagar airport is well connected to all major cities in India. Foreign students first land at New Delhi before catching domestic flight to Srinagar or taking local train or bus to reach Kashmir University.
By Rail : The nearest railway station is in Jammu, which is approximately 295 km from Srinagar. One can reach Jammu by train and then take Bus or private taxi to Kashmir University.
By Road : Once in Srinagar, you have wide variety of option(Taxi, Bus, private transportation,University Bus) to reach Kashmir University.
